Biography ~
Julie stands at the intersection of decades of artists and horse lovers within her family. She is both. As an exceptionally creative and capable artist, Julie started drawing at four, and by ten had begun teaching herself painting with oils. With formal learning and training in high school and college, her artistic proficiency both increased and expanded.

An unconventional Bachelor of Arts degree in Equine Studies, which provided training in a broad range of subjects from business to basic veterinary medicine, was a building block to confidently start her own business at twenty one.  Specializing in equine portraiture, Julie spent the next ten years as a full-time professional artist. The contacts developed into using her expertise in art and design to provide freelance consulting services in graphic design and work within existing frameworks to create websites that are highly functional and pleasing.

Her ability to thrive under intense deadlines that cross between the smallest details and the largest issues took her from a part-time graphic design position with a local theater and transition to associate director.

In October 2016, Julie and her husband moved to San Jose, CA where she continues to work as a freelance graphic designer, artist and website maintenance consultant.

Technique ~
The inspirations for my oil paintings come from the places I have lived and visited.  Using the photographs as a reference and a brief pencil outline on the canvas, I then blend together a portrayal of what I see in the world around me through a simplistic style of painting that has often been described as peaceful.

Artist Statement ~
At its core, all art is a reflection and an interpretive vision of the period in which it was created.  The world to one age is not the same world to another.  There are the obvious changes in building and dress, but also the more subtle shifts in the way man views and thinks about the world.

As a realistic painter, I attempt to hold a mirror up to nature and reflect a single moment in time.  My intent is to draw attention to those details that are often overlooked because there is not time… and to see takes time.

I consider it a privilege to use the natural talent God has given me to create artwork that blesses other people.

  1. We bought a magnificent painting of yours several years ago, at a show towards Buffalo New York. It is entitled “Puppy Thought’s two” We fell in love with it at first sight and and of course we had to give her a name “Francis”. We would love to see more of your work and possibly visit a show that you might be at. We do appreciate your God given talent, for talent like yours is so inspiring!!!!
