Mandala Pattern

I have several round stencils in my files that I have been waiting for the right opportunity to use them.  This mandala pattern is one of them.  I came across this table discarded by the side of the road and could not wait to run home and choose a stencil for this piece of furniture.

The table was a little worn out and had obviously been well used, but a fresh coat of paint always works magic.  In preparing the table to be painted, I discovered that the top had an oil base finish and the legs a latex based finished.  In light of this unusual discovery, it changed my original plan of positioning a stencil on the table and going to town with acrylic paints.  A couple coats of primer would fix this issue, but I decided to simply work with oils instead… which also meant I would need to paint the design freehand.  It is not as time efficient as using a stencil, but I did not have a deadline so it did not matter. Below is the picture timeline of the different stages.
